History

Titusville High School opened in 1927 at its present location, but the Titusville High football program can trace its roots back to 1925 to Titusville Elementary and High School which was located where the current Titusville City Hall is. In that first football game played back in 1925, Titusville defeated Cocoa 19-0. The home football games were originally played on a field just south of Norris Buick/Honda before moving to the field where the present Al Werneke Stadium is located (so we are back pretty much where we started). Sometime in the late 1940's or early 1950's Draa Field became the new home for Terrier football until Al Werneke Stadium was built in 2007. The first night game was played on October 9, 1936 when the Terriers defeated visiting Kissimmee 13-9.

Note - the 1960 team picture includes Head Coach Leonard Skinner which is the same Coach Skinner that later taught at Robert E. Lee high school in Jacksonville and was the inspiration for the name of the band Lynyrd Skynyrd .
